Urbanvelo "bicycle
culture on the skids"
issue #8 july 2008
81/2" X 7" 80pgs. Color gloss cover, B&W
print
bicycle culture, articles, art, ads, general bike info
Spotlighting several recent events such as the CMWC's - Toronto
and the bicycle film festival - NYC. I like the section titled
"I love riding in the city", especially the international entrys...
it goes to show growing similaritys all over the world. People
from all walks of life coming together over the "bike".
In this issue, thier is a particular article I found facinating on
a gentalmen named Major Taylor, a track cyclist at the turn of
the last century. Apperantly one of the best of all time. If his
name does'nt ring a bell it might be because he was black;
participating in a very white dominated sport, during a very
fucked era.
A couple of articles, a few interviews, tons of pics
and even some comix! Then of course theres all the adds. Which,
if your like me, means you get to read the mag from back to front!

music geek, D.I.Y., some bike related stuffs
A few colums by the staff, a couple by contributers... some comix
and the adds. An article about some guy who gets pissed because
others critizis what he eats.
What got my attention was the coverage on the "Choppercabras"
7th anuall Holloween ride. 250 to 300 people got together to witness
a day of pure bike mayhem. From a tall bike battle royal to a
demolition derby that went to the bitter end. Mini bike racing,
guys dreesed as ninjas, the group ride... It seemed like so much
fun. Good quality pics of all the action. They ride bikes in the
valley! Who nu?
